Craps

Craps is an extremely interesting and exciting dice game and is offered by almost all gambling houses. Although the game is simple, it offers the player a rather large and complicated choice of bets.

Craps is played with two dice which are rolled simultaneously and the player is called the shooter. The results of 2, 3, 7, 11 and 12 have a special meaning. Outcomes of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 are called the place.

7 is the most important roll outcome in craps. Several bets are placed which claim that a particular combination will or will not be rolled out before 7 is rolled; which will then decide if the player wins or loses.

When both dice roll out the same values, it is called hard. When the values are different it is called soft. For example, 3 and 3 will make hard 6, 4 and 2 will make a soft six. 2, 3 or 12 rolls are called craps.

The most basic bets in the game are called the 'pass line bet' and the 'don't pass line bet'. They are made as the game begins and the bets are made and not after the dice are rolled. Only of the other can win and both pay out even money. That means the winning bet returns to the person betting along with the win that is equal to the amount of the bet.

The player makes an initial roll that is called the 'come out' roll. If the come out roll hits 7 or 11, the pass line bet wins and the don't pass line bet loses. If 2 or 3 is rolled out instead, the don't pass line bet wins and the pass line bet loses. If 12 is rolled out, the pass line bet loses and the don't pass line is pushed. 12 is considered a tie and the don't pass line bets return to the player. Whatever happens, the round is then over.

If the player rolls out 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 then the roll outcome is called 'the point'. A white puck labelled "ON" is placed above the number in the betting table. You can now back up your pass/don't pass line bet with so called free odds bet. Free odds are supplemental bets. You can only extend your previous pass/don't pass line bet. When the point is established the pass line bets can only be won if the shooter rolls the point again before rolling 7. If the shooter rolls out 7, the pass line bet loses and the don't pass line bet wins. The shooter keeps rolling the dice until either 7 or the point is hit. Players can make bets between the rolls.

Although it seems complicated at first, it gets easy once you have played a few.One can play internet craps game which is similar to the craps in a traditional casino check our article on internet craps guide for more info.
